These days, most people in modern cities live in apartment buildings, myself included. There are many advantages to apartments. For example, they are convenient and require less maintenance than a house, and they are usually much less expensive than a traditional house. In addition, traditional houses have some disadvantages. They often lack modern amenities and may need to be adapted to fit more modern lifestyles. However, despite these disadvantages, I would still prefer to live in a traditional house than a’ modern apartment for the following reasons.
One, a traditional house usually offers more space than a modern apartment. It is not only roomier inside, but may also have a garden. Two it is unique and allows the owners to express their individuality. Too often, apartments are exact duplicates of each other and leave little room for creativity in decoration. Three, a house provides its owners with more privacy and a quieter environment. There are no neighbors directly above, below and next-door to disturb them. Last but not least, living in a traditional house is a way to preserve our culture. The architecture of the past can tell us a lot about how people before us lived and encourage us to maintain our traditions. Too often these fine old buildings are torn down to make way for modern apartment blocks.
In conclusion, I believe that the advantages of living in a traditional house outweigh its disadvantages. By choosing to live in one, I might have to put up with a few inconveniences, but I would gain space, quiet, and privacy. Furthermore, I would be saving an important part of our cultural heritage for the next generation to enjoy. In our efforts to advance our society and live more convenient lives, ‘e should not ignore the value of our past.
