The inventions of the last hundred years have brought us many advantages such as convenience, knowledge, entertainment and even longer and healthier lives. Although we already have wonderfully convenient lives compared to those of our ancestors, I believe we all still dream of new ways to improve our lives. What would I invent that could be of benefit to society? If possible, I would develop a new transportation device that could instantly and inexpensively transport a person from one location to another.

This device may sound like a science fiction toy, but I believe it would have several advantages. First of all, it would save people a great deal of time. Currently, many city people spend an hour or more each day just commuting between home and work. And when we consider how much time we spend traveling between towns or even across oceans, the advantage of this device is obvious. People would be able to get where they went to go without wasting a minute and without the fatigue that long-distance travel entails. This would make people more productive and our society more prosperous.

Another benefit of this device would be a decrease in environmental pollution. Our present transportation systems burn great amounts of fossil fuels that pollute the atmosphere . This contamination can lead to. health problems and shorten lives. This, in turn, makes the society less productive. So again, this device could make us all more prosperous if it were invented. Furthermore, with no cars on the streets, there would be no parking problems and we would all have more green space to enjoy. More trees and open spaces would also help to clean up our atmosphere.

Finally, the new transportation device would save everyone a lot of money. There would be no need to buy cars or airline tickets. This would be a great equalizer, allowing people of all economic classes to move about the world freely. I believe that people would travel more as a result, not only for business but also for pleasure. Families could spend more time together and everyone could learn more about different cultures by seeing them firsthand. This would encourage more tolerance and harmony in the world, making it a better place for all of us.

To sum up, my invention would benefit society in many ways, including saving people time and money and improving the environment. Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to develop this device, but perhaps, in the future, someone else will. But whether or not my chosen invention is developed in my lifetime, I am bound to see great improvements of other kinds for no matter how many advantages man already possesses, he is always seeking new ways to improve his life. This is one of the reasons we are such creative and inventive people.
