Parents take on a great deal of responsibility when they choose to have children, Of course, they cant the best for their children and hope that they ‘cull make the right decisions and have a happy and successful life. When children are younger, parents usually make all important decisions for them. This is only natural as young children do not have the experience and ability to make good decisions. however, I believe that when a child is an older teenager, he should begin to make more decisions for himself.
Rather than make decisions for their teenagers, I believe that parents should advise them and help them to make the best decisions for themselves. In this way, the children will learn how to make decisions in the future, when they can no longer depend on their families for everything. Furthermore, these years are a time for teenagers to take more responsibility. If they make bad decisions they will have to live with the consequences. Of course, parents should not leave their children to make important decisions all alone, but instead give them the benefit of good advice and guide them in the right direction. While it may be hard for parents to see their child make a decision that they do not agree with, teenagers are old enough to know what they want and what is important to them. Just as children must learn to make decisions, their parents must learn to respect them.
All in all, letting older teenagers make their own decisions offers more advantages to the family than disadvantages. Children may indeed make some bad decisions and suffer as a result, but this is also a learning experience. By letting their teenagers develop their decision-making skills parents help them to become more mature and competent adults.
