Films are popular in almost every country in the world. They offer entertainment, escape and even information to millions of people. Some themes, such as love, family relationships and r, are universal. However, the films of different countries have some unique characteristics that can tell us something about the culture that inspires them. After seeing movies from the United States and from India, I know more about the societies of these two countries.

American movies often feature futuristic high technology as part of the story. This tells me that Americans are interested in creating a future that is more progressive and convenient. The movies are also often filled with violence, and violence is often seen as a means of solving problems. This may reflect a belief in the importance of power and that “might is right.” Lastly, many American films show a clear differentiation between good and evil. From this I believe that Americans prefer clear answers to problems. Perhaps this is a reflection of the directness of the society.
